Reviews Defined

How many of you have requested a book review for one or all of your books? I have and I value those book reviews . . . kind of. I want to know what people think of my work. I want the good with the bad. And I’ve received my fair share of both. Essentially, a review is the same as advice. You get the good and bad advice. The important thing is what you do with it. You take what you can use and apply it, and what you can’t use, file it away in the garbage can or recycle bin.

In just a couple months, more than six hundred authors, writers, editors, agents, and other publishing professionals will descend on the Hyatt Regency St. Louis at the Arch for four days of fellowship, teaching, and celebrating. Each year almost a third of those who attend come for the very first time.

A Day in the Life...

As I write this, I’m standing in a Laundromat, waiting for the sheets and towels to stop tumbling, quarters at hand in case four rounds in the dryer doesn’t remove all the moisture left behind from a inadequate spin cycle. (No, I did not overload the washer.) The sun, which sets around 8:45 this time of year, vanished a while back, and my unfortunate fast-food supper is reminding me that I need to buy antacids the next time I’m at the drug store. Thank God for 24-hour Walgreens.

Changes at Hartline Literary Agency

“We are pleased to welcome Linda Glaz as the newest agent at Hartline,” said Hartline Literary Agency owner and principal agent, Joyce Hart. “She brings energy and enthusiasm to the agency and will be a great addition for us. Linda is an experienced editor, reviewer, and writer, and for a couple of years has been a final reader for Wild Rose Press, then for White Rose Publishing, and she worked as an editorial assistant for Hartline agent Terry Burns. She was a judge for the Genesis contest for the American Christian Fiction Writers, a judge for the Emily Award for the West Houston Chapter of the Romance Writers of America, and on the faculty for [the] Faithwriters.com annual conference in 2010 and again this year.”
